SOFTWARE SYSTEMS DEVELOPER

Our client is seeking a Software Systems Developer to be part of a distributed software development team. The successful candidate will have strong architecture and implementation skills of system-level software with the ability to cover a diverse range of technologies and solutions. An ability to turn product visions into reality and create well designed solutions from complex requirements.

You will be responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle including design, architecture, development, testing, support and maintenance.

Requirements
• Education to Degree Level – ideally Computer Science or similar subject.
• At least 7 years technical experience in software development.
• Proven track record in software development.
• Strong technical software skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Enthusiastic, dedicated team player with a will to succeed.
• Able to work directly with customers and partners.

Technical Skills
• Strong architecture and design skills for system-level software.
• High level of knowledge and experience of CICS, IMS or JCL internal design.
• Experience of COBOL highly advantageous.
• Experience of agile development methodologies.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Demonstrate innovative and creative thinking.
• Wide range of platforms, including Windows, Unix, Linux, and z/OS.

PROJECT MANAGER

Our client is seeking a Project Manager within the Electrics business to co-ordinate activities on numbers of contracts as well as providing technical input to the development of the projects from concept, to unit production build, and operational acceptance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Management of projects to time and cost
• Co-ordination of the team and resources assigned to the projects
• Provision of management information reporting on progress both internally and externally
• Development of close, long term customer relationships
• Development of appropriate recovery plans to achieve milestones as required
• Leading bid preparation activities as required
• Assisting the team to develop creative solutions to technical problems

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
• Broad engineering experience with ideally some commercial or other managerial exposure
• Team leader / project management experience with a small technical team
• Degree in an appropriate technical discipline
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Project or equivalent
• Exposure to project management methodologies such as PRINCE
• Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness
• Well organised, robust, self motivated team player
• Experience within a military/defence/aerospace industry would be an advantage
